"Boat dock" is the second of four oil paintings in my series called "VACATION."
This dock was located right next to the bait stand that I've also painted.
The photos for this series were ones I took while on vacation in Cedar Key, Florida. We were riding our bikes at the Marina, and the signs caught my eye so I stopped and took several pictures.
My favorite sign in this painting was the one that says "END OF RAMP." With water as far as the eye can see, it just struck me as ironic. Of course it's the end of the ramp!! I'm not sure that you would really need a sign to state that obvious fact.
I also liked how all the posts stood nice and straight in the water. I'm not sure how deep it was there, but I'm guessing it was fairly deep since you could get a boat in the water.
My goal with this painting was to help you feel how bright and sunny the sun was shining on the dock. I want you to feel like you're just getting ready to step into a boat for a relaxing day of fishing!
