I painted this pear for myself to match my logo, just weeks before our son Nathan was born. (Once the reality of his impending arrival began to sink in, my painting productivity went up tremendously.)
Soon after it was completed, a friend of mine saw it hanging in our foyer and fel in love with it. Her thoughtful husband gave this painting to her, along with "orchard 1" as an anniversary gift that year. The two pieces hang together in the dining room of their gorgeous home, which also is home to the commissioned piece I did for them called "surrounding the throne."
I never did get around to painting myself another pear. Although, in 2006 I painted a series of 35 "petite pears," and ended up keeping three of those for myself. So instead of one large pear, I have a set of three little pears.
