This abstract oil painting is #2 in “the fruit of the spirit” abstract series.
“But the fruit of the spirit is love, JOY, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness and self-control.” — Galatians 5:22-23
A friend of mine reminded me that joy is not dependant on my circumstances. It‘s about not letting the pain of life get the best of you.
This friend who talked so easily about REAL JOY was dealing with some prety hard times in her life: financial difficulties, fibromyalgia, a small child who prefers to stay up until 11pm every night, a stressful teaching job in a tough MPS school, marital problems, etc.
Yet she cheefully talked on about how she gains her true strength from her relationship with God. How He is the one who helps her wake up and face each day with a smile on her face. How her relationship with Him is where she gains her joy.
This friend has life in proper perspective. We are here on earth for such a short amount of time. And even though we may suffer now, eternity in heaven will be, well— eternal. She is resting in the fact that God is in Control of today, and that she will be with Him in Heaven where there will be no problems.
