This is our beautiful collie, Chloe Elizabeth Autumn Chase. She was helping me take pictures of the way the garages behind our house were illuminated by the warm Sunday afternoon sun. As I was laying flat on my back in the middle of the alley, shooting up towards a blue Indian Summer sky, I felt a wet dog nose touch my face. I turned the camera towards her, and on a whim snapped a few pictures of Chloe drinking in the delicious scents of that perfect autumn breeze.
NOTE: After almost 14 wonderful years with us, Chloe went to dog heaven on Memorial Day weekend of 2008. I still miss her (much more that I had imagined) but know that she is so much happier in her perfect body now.
One of her favorite things to do was chase squirrels. But her arthritis kept her from doing this once she reached the ripe old age of 10. I'm sure she's now spending most of her days running through the park after squirrels. (I also bet she doesn't shed any of that long white hair anymore either. :)
We have this painting of Chloe hanging in our son's room over his bed. I can't imagine a dog that could be better behaved than she was. We would leave her in our fenceless yard all day long sometimes and she'd just lay and watch people pass by on the sidewalk.
I would definitely get a collie again. They are the best breed!
