My son and I were visiting some friends in Kansas City during July when I spotted a field of sunflowers growing along a road that we passed everyday on our travels. So one morning I brought my camera along with us and we pulled over so I could snap some photos.
Brett, Erin, and Nathan all sat and watched from the air-contioned car as I braved the sultry Kansas summer heat to capture this gorgeous field of sunflowers on film. It was still fairly early in the morning but it was so HOT!
I took a little liberty in painting the colors of the flower in order to convey the wonderfully warm summer heat that these gorgeous flowers were soaking up that lazy morning. Looking at this painting reminds me of great friends, and sunny summer days—two of my favorite things.
