"Bait stand" is the first of four paintings in my series called "VACATION."
I took the photo that inspired this painting while on vacation in Cedar Key, Florida. We were riding our bikes at the Marina, and the signs caught my eye so I stopped and took several pictures.
I loved how the signs stood out against the blue sky and water. I'm not a fisherman, but for some reason the list of different types of bait you can buy at this bait stand intrigues me.
Perhaps it's because shrimp is the only thing on the list I'd heard of before, and even then, I didn't know it was ever used as fish bait.
My goal with this painting was to help you feel how bright and sunny the sun was shining on the day I took the photo. I want you to feel like you're just getting ready to step onto a boat for a relaxing day of fishing!
