The barn that inspired this painting can be found near Crawfordsville, Indiana. I took the photo several years ago while I was tagging along on one of Tim's business trips while he went to visit one of his many steel mill clients.
I had great plans of getting many inspirational photos that day, unfortunately the weather was quite gloomy and wet. Despite the rain, I did shoot a few ideas that day, hoping to improve on the mood that was before me.
So when I decided to paint a series of scenes from Indiana roads, I thought I would just take some artistic liberty on the photo that inspired this painting and turn the weather around to how I like it.
I also decided to paint the foreground in an even more impressionistic style that I would normally do. This added a nice contrast to the smooth red walls of the barn.
