I was commissioned to paint this piece for someone who had searched (without much success) for two years to find the perfect artwork to hang over his fireplace.
My client, Paul, has the coolest condo just south of downtown Milwaukee in what is know as the Historic Third Ward. Unfortunately, the photo I‘ve taken doesn't really do his place justice. You would need to picture something from the pages of The Pottery Barn catalog that has then been personalized to reflect Paul‘s individual taste and personality.
The direction I had for “morning light“ was based on two of my existing paintings that he was attracted to. Between the two of us, we came up with a general idea for the concept, and then I created this painting based on both his comments, and what I thought would help to pull the already wonderful decor together.
When we placed the painting in it‘s place of honor on the mantel over the fireplace, we both agreed that it was the absolute perfect finishing touch to the room.
There are few things in life that bring me as much joy as watching the face of somebody who falls in love with one of my paintings. I am hoping this painting will bring Paul many years of enjoyment. It makes me very happy to know that it is helping to add to the sense of warmth and serenity in his home.
