The photo that inspired this painting was taken in the fall of 2005. My husband TIm and I were spending some time exploring downtown Indianapolis. As we walked around the circle, these flowers captured my attention. I wanted to get the sky in the painting, so that's why I chose the extreme perspective for this compostion. I thought the cannas were a nice contrast to all the buildings that were surrounding us in the heart of downtown.
