Even though it looks like it could be a scene from heaven, it is actually a field in Travelers Rest, South Carolina.
In November, the front page of the Arts Section of the Greenville Newspaper contained a large photo of me standing in front of this painting in my studio. A few days later, I got a phone call from the owner of this field of sunflowers. She had seen my painting in the newspaper and then found me through this website.
She said that her husband plants these sunflowers every year without fail. Except for one year, when for an anniversary surprise, he planted a field of red poppies just for her instead. Isn't that romantic?
How nice to call this sea of sunflowers "my front yard." Which is exactly what she called it.
Thankfully she was delighted by my paintings... and doesn't seem to mind the fact that people are always stopping to take pictures of her front yard.
