This is the second painting in my series called "WATER."
I wanted this painting to help you feel the peaceful warmth of the South Carolina Low Country, just as I was experiencing it for myself for the very first time while camping at Edisto Island.
The photo I created this painting from was taken while we spent the morning riding our bikes throughout the miles of trails found in Edisto Beach State Park. http://www.southcarolinaparks.com/park-finder/state-park/1298.aspx
I sat down on the wooden path to snap the picture, to get the strong perspective which helps you feel the quiet vastness and mystery of the salt marshes.
It was Labor Day weekend, yet we only met a few other people on the paths that sunny morning. It was as if we were in a whole new undiscovered world (with great bike trails as an added plus.)
On that same bike ride we also met a very large snake, as its four-foot body was crossing the trail just in front of our six-year old son. It was just a friendly snake, but his presence, along with the many baseball-sized spiders weaving their webs across the path just over our heads, made for an unforgettable first trip to the Low Country.
I am hooked on this magical place, and can't wait to go back again!
