[COMMISSIONED]
I took the photo for this painting early on a summer morning when the sky was one of my favorite shades of blue. Our window boxes were in full-bloom and the promise of a sunny day was ahead of me.
Now you may already have gathered this from my other stories, but in case you are new to my site I have to tell you that I really dislike winter. So on that perfect sunny morning while admiring our plants in all their glory, I decided to be pro-active. I commissioned myself to paint geraniums to hang in our home.
I created this painting with the express purpose of capturing the happiness I feel in the summer when I can walk outside barefoot and feel the sun warming my face.
Its winter now as I write, and I have to say that this painting has already gotten me through some pretty long stretches of the gray weather weve had this winter. When the sun has been hiding for so long, its hard to remember how sweet summers are here in Milwaukee. But now, I have documented proof hanging on my dining room wall to remind me of what will come again.
Sadly, I am already counting the months until summer comes (usually its about mid-June before Im really satisfied with the weather), but thanks to my new painting, I at least have a better idea of what it is that Im anxiously waiting for.
