My friend Meredith brought me these beautiful flowers one day. I had no intention of painting them, until after several days of enjoyment it hit me that their beauty needed to be documented in a painting.

I didn't even move them, but just photographed these perky flowers as they were— just brightening up my home. If you were standing in our dining room, you'd be looking at them with the kitchen in the background.
