“fountain”

oil on canvas

April 2006

I took the photo that inspired this painting when our little boy was about six weeks old. We had gone down to the lakefront on a balmy Sunday summer evening to enjoy the weather, but really more just to pass the time with our newborn. As we wandered around walking both our collie and sleeping child, I snapped some photos to later use for some painting inspiration.

That was in 2003. It is a few years later and I have just now finally gotten around to painting what you‘ll find if you visit the Milwaukee Art Museum. The grounds are just beautiful there, and this fountain is one of seven others that can be found in “The Cudahy Gardens.”
